LONDON POKER MEETUP AT THE WALRUS, SE1

Monday nights at the Walrus is now running every OTHER week, and (as it seems to be the most popular format) we'll be sticking with a Multi Table Tournament 'Freezeout'.

WHAT'S A 'FREEZEOUT'?

A 'freezeout' is simply a poker tournament which plays down until one player has all the chips (and is then declared the winner/cardrack/lucky fish, depending on who's present). Everyone in the tournament buys in for the same £ amount and receives the same number of chips. Once you've lost these, you are eliminated from the tournament. Freezeouts are the opposite of REBUY tournaments, where there is a window of time in which you can rebuy another stack of chips if you get 'felted'. In short, once you're out, you're OUT.

We MAY adjust the clock and structure as appropriate but this will be made clear on the night and will be done ONLY if it looks necessary. Payouts MAY be made according to stack sizes only if it looks like we're running over.

PAYOUTS

APPROXIMATELY 10% of the field + 1 will be In The Money. All entry fees go into the prizepool and approximate payouts are shown below.

10-19 runners - top 3 (50%/30%/20%)
20-29 runners - top 4 (47.5%/27.5%/17.5%/7.5%)
30-39 runners - top 5 (45%/25%/15%/10%/5%)
40-45 runners - top 6 (41%/24.5%/14.5%/10%/6.5%/3.5%)

Assuming 45 runners (capacity field, £900 prizepool) approximate payouts would be:

1st £370
2nd £220
3rd £130
4th £90
5th £60
6th £30

CASH GAMES / SIT AND GOS

Small stakes cash games and Sit and Gos will be made available to those people that desire them after they have busted out of the main tourney. Latecomers are welcome to join these games also should they wish to. There is no charge for any of these games.

CATERING

As usual we'll have the upstairs bar to ourselves and snacks (well, Nobby's Nuts and crisps) and drink should be readily available throughout. We quite often get our own barperson (in the shapely form of Jaffa or Kamila) who provides table service as well as witty banter. Please feel free to tip the barstaff on duty liberally in the rather conspicuous jug provided (it says here). The Walrus do NOT provide hot food but if you wish you may bring your own in from outside, on the strict understanding that you give the rest of us some of your chips (see what I did there?)

RSVP-ING FOR THIS GAME

RSVPs for this meetup are NOT binding, we simply use them as a guage of interest to see how many people we should expect on the night. So yes, you CAN just turn up and play. It IS a case of first come, first served, so with only 45 seats it's a good idea to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Hope to see as many of you there as possible!
